IRCDUC evolved as a platform to enhance the capacities of communities,
facilitate community-led initiatives, disseminate information about laws and policies, and undertake policy researches related to land and housing rights of the deprived urban communities.
Since 2011, IRCDUC reaches out to 37 settlements in the cities of Chennai and Madurai with the support of our 21 committed volunteers. These inspiring individuals enable us to reach towards addressing the disconnect between the people and the policy makers.
IRCDUC is the civil society member of the State Level Committee for
Monitoring Progress of Shelter for Urban Homeless for Tamil Nadu as
constituted by the Honourable Supreme Court of India (W. P. No. 572/2003 & W. P. No. 55 of 2003) and the State Project Sanctioning Committee, Shelter for Urban Homeless (SUH) under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana (DAY)- National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM)
